Asakai: Aligning the Day with Short Morning Meetings
Japanese for 'morning meeting' — a short, stand-up, regular huddle that aligns the team on the day's priorities.
What is Asakai?
Asakai is a short 5–15 minute meeting at the start of the day. The goal is to quickly share yesterday's results, today's targets and blockers, aligning the team on the same priorities. It is usually held standing, in front of a performance board.
Making it effective
Keep it short, fix the agenda (yesterday–today–blockers), speak from the board's data, and take problem-solving offline. A regular Asakai strengthens transparency, fast escalation and a culture of ownership.
